Can I Apply Zea Essential Oils Topically on the Skin Undiluted?

There are certain essential oils that can be safely applied undiluted to the skin, however, as a blanket rule we do not recommend it for all Zea Essentials. Everyone's skin is unique and has varying levels of tolerance and sensitivity to the constituents embedded in different essential oils.

We always recommend using a carrier oil such Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, JOJO Oil or similar oils. We recommend doing a small patch test on skin when using higher dilution ratios.

The Dilution Ratios we recommend to customers are:
- For facial applications, and accessing the subtle energetic effects of the oil, I would recommend a 1% dilution ratio. For example, 3 drops of the essential oil per 10mL of carrier oil.

- For daily topical uses of the oil, for no specific use, we would recommend a 2% dilution ratio. For example, 6 drops of the essential oil per 10mL of carrier oil.

- For specific discomfort/specific treatments, we would recommend a 5% dilution ratio. For example, 15 drops of the essential oil per 10mL of carrier oil.

- For small areas of concerns and acute situations, we would recommend a 10% dilution ratio. For example, 30 drops of the essential oil per 10mL of carrier oil. You may wish to use up to 20% essential oil to carrier oil, but we would not recommend any more than that.

These are all averaged recommendations, so you may wish to try less or more, depending on the carrier oil and essential oil. This should give you an estimate of how many drops of essential oil you should be using safely.
