Kunzea Honey is produced from bees that harvest from the Kunzea Ambigua plant. This is the same species that Kunzea Oil is produced from. It is native to Tasmania and the costal regions of southeast Australia.
While Manuka Honey is produced by bees that harvest from the Leptospermum Scoparium plant which is Native to New Zealand and the southeast coast of Australia.
Kunzea honey is quite new to the scene so very little is known about its beneficial properties at this stage. One thing we do know is that the Kunzea plant is very closely related to the Manuka plant. They are both part of the Myrtle Family. It is likely that it would share some similar beneficial properties.
We hope to see some research done on the benefits of Kunzea honey in the future as it would be so exciting to discover that we have our very own native plant that is equivalent to Manuka.
